Learning Automata Applet

CARLA Applet Page

Instructions

This java applet uses the CARLA to find the maximum of the cost equation given below over the range x from -3 to 3 and y from -3 to 3. Displayed in yellow are probability density functions for the x and y parameters. These are initially uniform distributions. Pressing the start button resets the distribution to a uniform distribution and runs the learning algorithm. The probability density functions will gradually converge to Gaussian distributions around the global minima with little change occuring beyond 2000 iterations. The function is multi-modal with a global maximum at x=-0.0062 y=1.5809. A three dimensional plot of the function is shown below. For futher information on the CARLA please refer to my publications or contact me at mnwhowell@gmail.com.
